Williams Plant Nursery opened its doors in 1987, when Tom Williams teamed up with Glen St. Mary Nursery to provide an outlet for landscape contractors to buy Glen St. Mary's plants in the Jacksonville area. It wasn't long before the demand for a larger variety plants led the nursery to begin buying plants from all over the state and re-wholesaling them at a competitive price. Dealing with a wide range of vendors allowed the nursery to keep in stock all of the typical plant material used on a landscape project, making it a convenient one stop shop for Jacksonville landscapers.
As the Jacksonville area continued to grow, so did the nursery. Additional plant beds were added, tree lines were put in, and the nursery began carrying mulches and pine straw. In recent years the nursery has added twelve acres of plant beds as well as a propagation house. This part of the nursery is designated specifically for growing plants, from start to finish. The unique combination of both growing and re-wholesaling plant material allows for not only having a wide variety of plants, but also having large quantities on hand at all times.
Tom's wife Eleonora and their two sons, Josh and Justin have joined the Williams Plant Nursery team, making it a truly family run operation. Josh joined in 2005, after graduating from the University of Central Florida and Justin joined in 2009, after graduating from the University of Florida's College of Horticultural Science. The family is looking forward to continuing to grow and improve the nursery and to serving the Jacksonville area by providing quality products at a fair price.
